A 19-year-old man was killed and a 16-year-old boy wounded in a shooting Monday in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The two were in the 3000 block of South Kedvale Avenue at 5:01 p.m. when someone walked up, pulled a gun and fired shots, police said.

David Martinez, 19, was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:14 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Martinez lived in the 2700 block of South Komensky.

The 16-year-old was shot in the back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the 19-year-old was a documented gang member.
