Every year for decades Cubs fans have made trips to Las Vegas and thrown a little bit of money on their favorite team to finally win a World Series, and every year that has turned into a donation to the sportsbook coffers.

However, the excitement surrounding this year’s team has many believing that gravy train for the casinos will finally come to a screeching halt. If it does, Las Vegas may be in some trouble.

Chicago teams already have a higher rate of play with casinos, but the team’s 2016 chances have bettors who aren’t Cubs fans laying down some money. So much so, that the Cubs odds are already taking huge jumps. The Cubs championship odds have gone from 10-to-1 down to 9-to-2 just since November.

From Linemakers:

Our biggest risk so far in World Series futures has been on the Cubs and then the Giants, said Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook assistant manager Jeff Sherman…

The Cubs aren’t the only team that could hurt the Las Vegas books. Because of their additions, the San Francisco Giants have jumped from 20-to-1 to 10-to-1.

For Cubs fans, any money won on a World Series would just be a cherry on top. There are plenty of fans throughout the country that would gladly give up the money just to see the Cubs win a World Series.
