A man was shot during a robbery late Wednesday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
The 29-year-old was walking in the 6200 block of South Stewart at 11:37 p.m. when an armed male emerged from an alley and robbed him, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said. The victim was shot during the robbery, and the suspect ran off with a bag of food the victim had purchased earlier.
The man was taken to St. Bernard’s Hospital with gunshot wounds to the upper right back and right hand, Gaines said. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
