A 35-year-old man was shot Thursday evening in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The man told investigators he was walking about 5:30 p.m. in the 800 block of South California when someone in a moving vehicle fired five shots, hitting him in the left arm, according to Chicago Police.

He took himself to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
