A 14-year-old boy is being held at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center, charged with an attempted carjacking Thursday night in Elgin.

The boy was arrested based on a description given by a woman who told police she was parked in a lot in the 700 block of West Chicago Street when someone knocked on her window with a handgun, according to the Elgin police, who said she instead quickly drove away.
