Two Zion women who worked for the Lake County court clerk’s office have been charged with official misconduct, accused of altering court records.
Veronica Ventura, 41, and Leticia Gonzalez, 45, are accused of altering the records for personal gain, dating to as early as 2010, according to the Lake County state’s attorney’s office, which said an internal audit led authorities to discover the changes and arrest the women.
Ventura, free on $50,000 bail, is charged with two counts of official misconduct. Gonzalez, free on $20,000 bail, is charged with eight counts of official misconduct.
