Chicago Police are warning West Side residents after two armed robberies were reported within 12 hours of each other last week in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The robberies happened about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of North Kildare and about 4:45 a.m. Thursday in the 4200 block of West Madison, according to the community alert issued by Area North detectives.

The suspect walked up to a victim on the street, pulled out a handgun and demanded their property, police said.

One suspect was described as a black man between 25 and 27 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 and about 160 pounds, police said. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The other suspect was described as a black man between 19 and 20 years old, 5-foot-5 to 6-foot, 130 to 140 pounds with a medium complexion.
