Man shot in leg in Gage Park

A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg Friday night in the Southwest Side Gage Park neighborhood.

He was standing on the street about 9:40 p.m. in the 5800 block of South Washtenaw when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered a wound to the left leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Shermain Sargent, 41, is accused of beating Timothy Ash, 74, on Jan. 7 in the 6400 block of South King Drive. Ash died Jan. 12 of injuries suffered from the assault, the medical examiner reported.
