A married couple was found shot to death inside their home Friday evening in an apparent murder-suicide in northwest suburban Bloomingdale.

Catherine and Daniel Kudrna were found dead at the scene when officers responded to a call of shots fired at 5:05 p.m. at their home in the 300 block of Norton Lane, according to Bloomingdale police and the DuPage County coroner’s office.

Preliminary autopsy results show the 55-year-old man shot the 54-year-old woman several times before shooting himself in the head, the coroner’s office said.

Police initially said they were investigating the shooting as a domestic fight and police “are not actively searching for any suspects,” Bloomingdale police Chief Frank Giammarese said in a post to his department’s official Facebook page.

Further investigation is pending toxicology and forensic autopsy studies.
