One woman was killed and two more were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in west suburban Yorkville.

At 3:02 p.m., a 2008 Nissan Altima was stopped in traffic on Route 47 near Corneils Road when it was rear-ended by a northbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, according to a statement from Yorkville police. The collision sent both vehicles off the highway.

A passenger in the Altima, 23-year-old Ashley Lopez, was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. She lived in the 400 block of West Abe Street in Plano, police said.

The 56-year-old woman driving the Altima and another 22-year-old woman riding as passenger were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, police said. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The driver of the Silverado, 20-year-old South Elgin resident Kyle Delhaye, was not injured in the crash, police said. He was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
