A man was shot early Thursday in the Jefferson Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The 34-year-old was driving at 12:02 a.m. in the 5400 block of West Montrose when a dark-colored SUV pulled alongside and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the right arm, groin and both legs, police said. He was taken to Community First Medical Center and was later transferred to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
