Deer harvest totals in the early days of Illinois archery season are well off the pace of 2015. Archery deer season opened Oct. 1.

Here is the word from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

ARCHERY DEER Through Wednesday, October 12, 2016, Illinois archery deer hunters harvested a preliminary total of 6,235 deer, compared to 8,868 for the same period in 2015. Harvest to date has consisted of 71% does and 29% males (4425; 1810). Top five counties were Pike (228), Fulton (167), Adams (159), Jefferson (151), and JoDaviess (140). A table of county results is attached. Up-to-date archery harvest figures (for either deer or turkey) by county/state sites can be tracked on the web athttp://www.dnr.illinois.gov/hunting/Pages/IDNRHarvestQuery.aspx Paul Shelton, Manager Forest Wildlife Program

FYI, that link above is tracking for the current year, not for an up-to-the-minute comparison with the previous year, which I find useful.
