A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the Lawndale neighborhood late Thursday on the Southwest Side.

Just before 10 p.m., Aaron Jackson was on a sidewalk in the 1500 block of South Komensky when someone in a dark-colored minivan opened fire, hitting him in the abdomen, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Jackson was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:28 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 1300 block of South Lawndale.

An autopsy Friday found the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the back. His death was ruled a homicide.
