A west suburban man was fatally shot Saturday morning in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired about 7 a.m. in the 2600 block of West 23rd found 26-year-old Vincent Zarco unresponsive with a gunshot wound, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Zarco, who lived in the 2400 block of Wesley Avenue in Berwyn, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:25 a.m., authorities said.

Officers also saw a vehicle drive away from the scene, police said. When they attempted to pull it over, someone threw a gun out the window.

The two people inside the vehicle were taken into custody and questioned, but were later released without being charged. Area Central detectives are investigating.
