Hornets’ Kaminsky fights epic Twitter war with Cubs

Charlotte Hornets center Frank Kaminsky — the former Benet Academy star from suburban Lisle — is on a mission to put a hex on the Cubs.

And the Cubs — or at least their social-media director — won’t take this sitting down.

What unfolded was a two-sport, epic Twitter war.

It all started when Kaminsky arrived for the Hornets’ game against the Bulls at the United Center on Monday night wearing a Steve Bartman Cubs jersey he had specially made.

“There is a sense of jealousy,” Kaminsky told Chuck Garfien of Comcast SportsNet. “I’m a White Sox fan. I don’t want to see them do well.”

Cubs fans — and Cubs haters — recall that a 3-0, eighth-inning lead over the Florida Marlins in Game 6 of the 2003 National League Championship Series crumbled after Bartman deflected a foul ball that may or may not have been caught in foul territory by left fielder Moises Alou. The Cubs went on to lose the game and the series.

The jersey sparked a friendly social-media war between Kaminsky and the Cubs’ main Twitter account.
