A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Interstate 294 Saturday morning near south suburban Robbins.

The person was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

It happened in the southbound lanes near 135th Street, authorities said. The victim’s name has not been released, but an autopsy Sunday ruled the death an accident.
