A 77-year-old man was driving drunk when he crashed into another vehicle Saturday in Will County, leaving another man seriously injured, authorities allege.

About 5 p.m. Bernard Whitehead was going south in a Ford SUV when he crossed over into the northbound lane, striking an Oldsmobile Cutlass on IL Route 102 just south of Manteno Road, according to Illinois State Police.

Whitehead was taken to a hospital along with the 32-year-old man driving the other car. Their injuries were considered life-threatening, state police said.

Whitehead, of Bourbonnais, was charged with aggravated DUI, failure to reduce speed and improper lane usage.
