Lake Forest police are investigating after it was discovered that a registered sex offender was volunteering at a Lake Forest church that also runs a preschool.

Officers received a complaint Monday that a sex offender was volunteering at the church in the 700 block of Sheridan Road, according to Lake Forest police. The First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest is located on that block, and does have a preschool.

The caller was concerned because of the man’s proximity to the preschool, police said.

As of Monday, the man no longer works or volunteers at the church, police said. And there is no indication he had access to or contact with any of the children.

Lake Forest police are determining if the Registered Sex Offender act was violated and if so, charges will be filed.

Anyone with information should call Det. Cmdr. Rick Anderson at (847) 810-3811.
