A woman was killed and a man was wounded in an exchange of gunfire Monday afternoon in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

They were struck when two groups of males exchanged gunfire about 2 p.m. at 106th and State, according to Chicago Police.

Adrianna Mayes, 21, was shot in her left side and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced dead at 2:56 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Mayes, who was not believed to be a target of the shooting, lived nearby in the 10600 block of South State.
