A 3-year-old girl was fatally struck by a car Saturday morning in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Lilliana Cantu was struck by a car about 10:50 a.m. when she ran after a family member who had just crossed the street in the 2700 block of West 45th Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Lilliana, who lived in the 6200 block of West 79th Street in Burbank, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

The driver remained at the scene after the crash and no citations were issued. The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
