A man was fatally struck by a Metra train Monday night on the South Side.

The pedestrian was hit about 10:15 p.m. by outbound Rock Island District train No. 529 near 99th Street, Metra spokesman Tom Miller said.

The pedestrian, identified as 20-year-old Adam Rodriguez, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 9600 block of South Francisco Avenue in Evergreen Park.
