Kenneth Loyd | Illinois Department of Corrections

A 20-year-old Aurora man in prison for theft has been charged with a burglary that happened last year in the western suburbs.

Evidence technicians collected physical samples after someone smashed a vehicle’s window on Sept. 3, 2015 in the first block of South Bereman Road in unincorporated Montgomery, according to the Kendall County sheriff’s office.

The evidence later was tied to Kenneth Loyd, who is serving a 30-month sentence at the Lawrence Correctional Center in downstate Sumner, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was arrested in DuPage County five days after the Montgomery break-in and later convicted of theft.

Loyd now faces a felony burglary charge and misdemeanor counts of property damage and trespass to a vehicle, sheriff’s police said. Bond was set at $50,000.
