Man seriously wounded in Roseland shooting

A 30-year-old man was shot in the arm, abdomen and chest Wednesday afternoon in Roseland on the Far South Side.

It happened about 5:15 p.m. in the 10100 block of South Michigan, according to Chicago Police.

The man was taken to Roseland Community Hospital in serious condition, police said. The circumstances of the attack were unknown.

The Spirit of Progress, depicting the goddess Diana, has stood on the tower of the Montgomery Ward and Co. administration building along the east bank of the Chicago River for nearly a century. A Lake Forest firm will repair and restore the statue, and it will return in the spring.
