A woman was critically wounded in a shooting Thursday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

At 5:23 p.m., a 43-year-old woman was standing in front of a home in the 4800 block of South Winchester when a dark blue minivan drove by and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police. She was not thought to be the intended target of the shooting.

The woman was shot in the back of the neck and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.
