A 74-year-old woman from Pennsylvania was fatally hit by a vehicle while crossing a Calumet Heights neighborhood street Monday morning on the South Side.

It happened about 10:20 a.m. in the 8800 block of South Stony Island, according to Chicago Police.

Phyllis Chaffin was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she died at 11:16 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She lived in Homestead, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh.

The driver stayed at the scene, police said. No citations had been issued as of Monday night, as CPD’s Major Accident Investigation Unit looks into the case.
