A 23-year-old Chicago woman was killed Monday afternoon in a crash on Illinois Route 1/17 in Kankakee County.

At 2:26 p.m. Rachel R. Gray was driving a 2012 white Toyota Camry south on East 500N Road when she turned left onto IL 1/17 and was hit by a northbound semi, according to Illinois State.

Gray was dead at the scene, authorities said. No citations have been issued.

Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 5900 block of South Ashland Avenue when they were shot at, police said. Five men were later taken into custody, two of whom were wounded. No officers were hurt.
