A 62-year-old woman died after a crash Thursday morning in north suburban Deer Park.

Barbara S. Sexton was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee east on Lake Cook Road when she disobeyed a red light at the intersection with Quentin Road about 6 a.m., according to the Lake County sheriff’s office and Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The Jeep entered the intersection and was struck by a 2001 Dodge pickup headed south on Quentin, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sexton, of the 300 block of Melrose Lane in Lakewood, was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where she was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m., authorities said. An autopsy found she died of multiple injuries from the crash, and her death was ruled an accident.

The 24-year-old driver of the Dodge was not injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the crash.
