Chicago Police will announce an arrest Tuesday evening in the murder of 2-year-old Kyrian Knox, found decapitated in a Garfield Park lagoon last year.
His dismembered remains were found in the lagoon on Sept. 5, 2015, about two weeks before Kyrian was reported missing from a residence in Rockford where he’d been staying. Kyrian’s mother, Lanisha Knox, told investigators she left her son with Kamel Harris, a friend, and Harris’ girlfriend Danyelle Foggs, while she moved from Rockford to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Based on the missing person report, Chicago Police went to Rockford to collect DNA from Kyrian’s mother, which matched the remains found in the lagoon.
His death was ruled a “homicide by unspecified means” by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Chicago Police will announce an arrestat 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Garfield Park Lagoon Field House, according to police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
