A man was charged with burglarizing a home on Friday in northwest suburban Elgin.

At 2:54 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Waverly Drive for a report of a residential burglary, according to Elgin police. The homeowners told police the burglar entered the home by forcing their way through a window.

Chefonne L. Montgomery, 22, of the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive in Elgin, was subsequently charged with one felony count of residential burglary, police said.

Montgomery was expected to appear in Cook County bond court on Thursday.
