Auxiliary Deputy Michael Thornton | Kendall County sheriff’s office

The Kendall County sheriff’s office added an additional auxiliary deputy to their office last week.

Michael Thornton was sworn in as an auxiliary deputy on Nov. 9 by Sheriff Dwight A. Baird, the Kendall County sheriff’s office said. Thornton is a veteran of the U.S. Army and previously served in this role with the U.S. Coast Guard and Florida Highway Patrol.

The Auxiliary Unit provides support to the sheriff’s office and assists with special events, directing traffic and searches for evidence and persons, police said.
