Two women were shot during a robbery early Monday in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The women, ages 23 and 28, were walking on the sidewalk about 12:40 a.m. in the 6100 block of North Maplewood when they were approached by two armed males who announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police. One of the robbers demanded money, but when the woman said they didn’t have any, he opened fire.

the younger woman was shot in the right foot, while the older woman suffered a graze wound to the left leg, police said. They were both taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where their conditions were stabilized.
