A 17-year-old boy and 21-year-old man were shot in the hallway of a South Chicago neighborhood apartment building on Monday night.

A masked gunman opened fire just before 9 p.m. inside the building in the 8700 block of South Escanaba, hitting the man in the chest and the teen in the foot, according to Chicago Police.

They were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the man was listed in serious condition. The boy was stabilized, police said.

The man was found unresponsive in an alley in the 10700 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said.
The man suffered head trauma and was pronounced dead at University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.
