A man robbed a bank at gunpoint Monday evening in southwest suburban Frankfort.

The non-takeover robbery happened around 5 p.m. at the Old Plank Trail Community Bank at 20901 South LaGrange Rd. in Frankfort, FBI spokesman Garrett Croon said.

The white man, who appeared to be about 50 years old, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11 with a thin build, showed a handgun and was wearing black clothes, a jacket, aviator sunglasses and a black mask, Croon said.

So far in 2016, there have been 174 bank robberies in the Chicago area. Last year, there are a total of 144 bank robberies.
