A 54-year-old woman was found shot to death early Saturday in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot just after 1 a.m. found Cynthia D. Richardson on the lawn of a home in the 5900 block of South Winchester with a gunshot wound to the neck, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Richardson, who lived in the 2100 block of West 63rd Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:30 a.m., authorities said.

Area South detectives have launched a homicide investigation.
