The 16-year-old was walking in the 1400 block of North Kildare about 8:30 a.m. when she heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police. West Park Academy of Fine Arts is about a block and a half away.

The girl was shot in the right leg and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where her condition stabilized, police said.
