A teenage girl was shot Thursday morning in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 16-year-old was walking in the 1400 block of North Kildare about 8:30 a.m. when she heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police. West Park Academy of Fine Arts is about a block and a half away.

The girl was shot in the right leg and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where her condition stabilized, police said.

Police said it appears she was not the intended target of the shooting.
