A man was shot and killed early Saturday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 3:50 a.m. in the 4700 block of South Laflin Street found 24-year-old Lorenzo Garcia outside with a gunshot wound to the head, according to Chicago Police and Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Garcia, who lived in the 4800 block of South Laflin, was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The charges come more than a year after a federal grand jury subpoenaed the agency in May 2021 seeking records on Mustafaa Saleh and two dozen properties the land bank obtained and sold.
