A southwest suburban man was struck and killed by a car after getting out of his own car following a crash early Saturday on the Indiana Toll Road in Hammond.

Blake Parker, 30, of Summit, was dead at the scene on Interstate 90 at the 0.9 mile marker in Hammond, according to the Lake County, Indiana, coroner’s office.

He’d been driving a 2010 Nissan Maxima east on the toll road and hit the back of a semi-truck just after 3:30 a.m., according to the Indiana State Police. Both drivers pulled over, and Parker was standing outside his car when he was hit by a 2010 Dodge Charger, they said.
