Two men were killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday in south suburban Peotone.

John Alan J. Blount Jr., 29, of Crete; and Danny E. Clancy Jr., 32, of Monee, were driving southbound on South Harlem near East Corning in a 1999 Chevy Tahoe about 2 a.m. when the SUV rolled multiple times and struck a business sign, according to Peotone police and the Will County coroner’s office.

The SUV came to rest in a parking lot in front of a business at the intersection. No one witnessed the crash, which destroyed the vehicle, police said.

Blount and Clancy were pronounced dead at the scene at 3:30 a.m., the coroner’s office said. Autopsies Monday revealed both died of multiple injuries suffered in the crash. Toxicology reports have not been completed.

Police said the men were friends who had been out together before the crash. Speed appears to have been a factor.

Illinois State Police are assisting with reconstruction and investigation of the crash, police said.
