A person questioned by police after a man was found dead inside his northwest suburban home early Sunday has been released without charges.

Officers responding to the 13N000 block of Engel Road in unincorporated Burlington Township about 3:30 a.m. found 58-year-old Jeffery Rak dead inside his home, according to a statement from the Kane County sheriff’s office.

Police said evidence suggested a struggle may have occurred inside the home.

A person of interest was taken into custody, but was released without charges by Tuesday afternoon, police said. Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and believe there is no threat to the public.

The sheriff’s office and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force are conducting the death investigation.
