A man was beaten and robbed Monday night on the UIC campus on the Near West Side.

At 10:10 p.m., the victim was beaten by four males who took his pants in the 1200 block of South Morgan Street, according to the crime alert posted on the University of Illinois at Chicago website.

The suspects, who were dressed in all black clothing, ran southbound on Morgan, according to the alert.

Chicago Fire Department paramedics took the man to a hospital, according to the alert. He is not affiliated with the university, according to UIC.

UIC Police advise students not to wear headphones when walking alone, to travel in groups, and to keep an eye out for the nearest emergency call box.

Chicago Police are investigating the attack. Anyone with information is asked to call 311.
