Man shot in Heart of Chicago

A man was shot early Wednesday in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side.

The 31-year-old was sitting in a vehicle in the 2100 block of South Leavitt about 12:40 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

Possible persons of interest were being questioned in connection with the shooting early Wednesday, according to police.
