Two men were shot Thursday afternoon in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The men, ages 22 and 24, were both shot at 2:11 p.m. in the 4800 block of South Throop, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.

The 24-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen, and was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said. The younger man was shot in the foot and was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

A police source said both men are documented gang members.
