A woman was stabbed late Thursday in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

The 30-year-old woman was on the sidewalk in the 8200 block of South Halsted Street around 11 p.m. when someone in a black hooded sweatshirt walked up and stabbed her, Chicago police said.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.
