A 17-year-old boy was shot in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side early Saturday.
The boy was walking in the 8300 block of South Paulina at 4:22 a.m. when someone fired shots and struck him in the back, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
A police source said the boy is a documented gang member.
Late Friday, a 20-year-old man was fatally shot about a half mile away.
Terrell Sykes, 20, was standing in the street in the 8500 block of South Hermitage about 11:20 p.m. when he heard gunshots and felt pain, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and police.
Sykes, who lived on the same block, was shot in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where was pronounced dead an hour later, authorities said.
