A woman was killed and two other people, including a 5-year-old boy, were injured in a head-on crash early Sunday in the Pilsen neighborhood.

A Ford Mustang was speeding southbound in the 2400 block of South Loomis about 12:05 a.m. when it collided with a northbound Honda Civic, according to Chicago Police. The Mustang also struck two parked vehicles before it stopped.

Elizabeth Salinas, 23, was sitting in the Civic’s front passenger seat and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:50 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. She lived in the 4800 block of South Laflin.

The 18-year-old man driving the Civic and a 5-year-old boy who was also in the car were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were both stabilized, police said.

The driver of the Mustang ran away after the crash, police said. No one was in custody early Sunday as the police Major Accident Investigation Unit was investigating.
