Man shot in Rogers Park

A man was shot early Monday in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The 27-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of West Birchwood about 4:25 a.m. when a male exited a dark-colored car nearby and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the left leg and and was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.

Javonni Jenkins, 27, and Curtis Hartman, 79, were found Wednesday morning in their apartment. The 2-year-old did not appear to be injured but was taken to a hospital to be checked.
