A man was shot in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood on the South Side early Sunday.

At 4:07 a.m., two males armed with a gun walked up to the 20-year-old man in the 5100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue and asked about his gang affiliation. The man tried to push the gun away and was shot, and then the two males ran away, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the left hand and was taken to Provident Hospital in good condition, police said.
