SHARE 63-year-old man with dementia missing from Gary

A 63-year-old man who suffers from dementia was reported missing from northwest Indiana early Sunday.

James Thompson wandered off from the 1500 block of Porter Street in Gary about 6 a.m. Sunday, according to Gary police. He suffers from dementia and is without his medication.

Thompson is described as a 5-foot-9, 228-pound black man with black hair, gray beard and brown eyes, police said. He was last seen wearing black shoes, black pants, tan Carhartt jacket with a hood, and a baseball cap.

Police said he is likely on foot and very disoriented.
