A man was critically wounded in a shooting that also left a woman injured early Tuesday in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

The 25-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were standing in an alley in the 700 block of West 72nd Street about 12:30 a.m. when three to four males fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and arm and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

The woman was shot in the leg and ankle and was also taken to Christ, where her condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
